How to Mindfully Change Your Life

This is a simple but powerful way to change your life that you can start doing right a way. Reiki, a form of energy healing that aims to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, is an accessible practice learned by anyone with an open heart and mind and a desire to heal. Whether you're looking to alleviate physical pain, reduce stress and anxiety, or enhance your overall sense of balance and harmony, Reiki offers a simple yet powerful tool for self-improvement and personal growth. With practice and dedication, you can develop your skills as a Reiki practitioner and use this ancient healing method to improve your life and those around you.

Each Reiki practitioner learns and incorporates these Five Principles into their daily lives.

  1. Just for today, I will release worry.

  2. Just for today, I will release anger.

  3. Just for today, I will do my work honestly.

  4. Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.

  5. Just for today, I will be kind to all living creatures.

To ensure success in daily practice, we start each goal with the phrase "just for today" to maintain our attention on the present. Our ultimate aim is to put these principles into practice every day effectively.

Just for today, I will release worry.

Worry is a pervasive emotion that quickly consumes us. We tend to fret over past events, even though we cannot alter them, fixating instead on all the hypothetical "what if's." Similarly, we tend to worry about what could happen in the future, again falling prey to those same "what if's." Ultimately, worry robs us of the chance to live in the present moment.

I had a client several years ago that worried for most of her life. She said, "You don't understand. I need a plan B and Plan C if Plan A doesn't work." I asked her how long she had developed multiple plans for each situation. She said, "Thirty-two years." Wow!! I asked her how often she needed a Plan B in all those years. She said twice. Worrying used a lot of her energy.

Just for today, I will release anger.

Anger is a complex emotion that can often be traced back to our deepest fears. These fears can manifest in many forms, such as a fear of failure, rejection, or loss. Recognizing and acknowledging these fears is the first step toward releasing our anger. It can be challenging to confront our fears, but breaking free from anger is essential. By facing our fears head-on, we can develop the strength and courage necessary to overcome them. This newfound strength can help us live a happier, more peaceful life, free from the negative effects of anger.

Just for today, I will do my work honestly.

This principle means I promise to always give my best effort in everything I do. Some days, I may not feel my best, affecting my performance. But I don't want to compare myself to some unrealistic standard - that's unfair. Instead, I want to be honest about what I can realistically accomplish and why. And most importantly, I want to be kind to myself and treat myself with empathy, just like I would treat a friend going through a tough time.

Just for today, I give thanks for my many blessings.

Incorporating the practice of gratitude into your daily routine can yield immeasurable benefits. By taking just a few moments each day to reflect on and write down five things you are grateful for, you can shift your perspective towards a more positive outlook on life. This shift in mindset can attract even more positive energy and experiences into your life, creating a cycle of gratitude and abundance.

Just for today, I will be kind to all living creatures.

Most people are kind to others. With this in mind, it is essential to treat everyone with kindness and empathy, as you never truly know the struggles they may be facing in their daily lives. Let us all strive to be a source of positivity and understanding for those around us. I find the one person they leave off the list is themselves. Individuals tend to be more critical of themselves than anyone else. If you make a mistake, decide what to do differently next time the same situation arises. This is the process we use to grow and learn as a spiritual soul having a human experience. Be a friend to yourself too. You are doing your best with the information you have at the time.

Consider implementing these essential principles into your everyday routine, as countless individuals have already done so. By mindfully practicing these principles daily, you will experience significant transformations you may not have thought possible.
