Why Being Grounded is a Good Thing

Brenda talks with Cathy Kearns, owner of Reiki Renewal in Boise, Idaho.

I had an interesting conversation with my friend Brenda Winkle from the Waves of Joy Podcast. Brenda has been a long-time friend and Energy Healer. You can find her on her podcast Waves of Joy on her website https://www.brendawinkle.com.

We discussed how our clients' needs have changed due to the Pandemic. The Pandemic has altered so much of our lives, and the effects are starting to show and will have a lasting impact on our future. I have been a Reiki Master for 14 years now. It is common for me to see people that need to be better grounded.

After the Pandemic, I have had more clients struggling with grounding. Are you new to this expression? Your energetic body is very much like an electrical circuit. The circuit must include a connection with the Earth so excess energy can flow into the Earth. The Earth helps to absorb any extra energy you have in your system. When this happens, your energetic system becomes grounded. This is why people feel so much better after a walk in nature, planting in the garden, or even a day at the beach.

Your energetic body flows through your chakra system. Your root chakra is at the base of your spine. The root chakra is the chakra that holds the energy of safety, consistency, all your basic needs are met, and the ability to ground with the Earth. The Pandemic challenged all of us in these areas. No wonder we saw we see an increase.

Is this you? Some common feelings or behaviors if you are not grounded are not paying attention to the world around you, being unable to make a decision, not being able to finish projects, and having brain fog. It often feels like you are a hamster on an exercise wheel. No matter how fast you go, you stay in the same place. You know something is off, but you can't grasp it. From the inside, you may experience a lot of worries, anxiety, exhausted, scattered, daydreaming a lot, and being overwhelmed. The things that brought you joy in the past no longer bring you that feeling. Often, unfinished projects would pile up, requiring more energy than you have to finish them. It's easy to get into the loop of negative self-talk.

Grounding is being able to ground your energetic circuit with the Earth. Being grounded allows you to become more centered and make decisions without feeling in fight-and-flight mode. To ground yourself, you could walk barefoot on the Earth (earthing), exercise, put plants in the soil, do yoga, hike in nature, soak in a tub with Epsom salts for 20 minutes, drink a bottle of water, or do a grounding meditation. These will all help ground your energy and make you feel more like your old self. Of course, you can see a Reiki Practitioner for help too.
